One of your first posts on Instagram was about your garden. What’s changed about your garden from 2016 to 2019?
The difference now is that I don't grow as many vegetables, instead I grow herbs that are used in my skin care products.
What’s one gardening tip you wish you had known when you first started?
I have been gardening since I was a teenager and I could grow anything.
But, back then organic gardening wasn't a big thing. I wish I had learned more about organic gardening earlier and had taken classes on organic gardening.
You sell products ranging from creams to bath bombs, to beard care. How did it all start?
It started with an issue I had with my own skin. And after seeing a specialist and not being satisfied with the treatment. But, I was spiritually lead to Oils of the Bible. That's what took me on this journey.
What I did make seemed to make a huge difference and so many people noticed the change. So I shared with friends and family, but eventually I had too much on hand.
As for the Beard Care Line: One day on Facebook, my son Jason posted a photo of his new razor and shaving brush and said "I need some shaving soap".
I got busy and I was continuously asked to make more and more products.
What’s your best-selling product?
Our best selling individual item is the 11 Herbs and Oil treatment. Our best selling category is the Men's Collection.
What is your favorite product?
I have many favorites, but I would have to say the 11 Herbs and Oil - Frankincense & Myrrh Scent.
I use it every day on my scalp and body. I do love it! A close 2nd is the Calming Balm, because it works so well when I have a skin breakout.
You were on the Steve Harvey show!
Yes, 2 of my sons, a grandson and I.
What were your takeaways from being on the show?
You put so much more time into putting a show together than you will ever see.
It was a great experience for my family and I. Although, I would have loved to have represented Chalises' brand/products on the show, there is still a great benefit.
We were asked to be a part of the Steve TV segment on shaving because of our social media presence. They called us "Social Media Influencers."
It just goes to show, people are watching and you never know who sees your work. It's not in vain. So keep on doing what we believe in and let the spiritual wings lead the way.
